Time to Get in Ship-Shape?

As the years go by, one thing is certain. on-demand access to products of all kinds, alcohol or otherwise, is increasing at unprecedented levels. While most of you are reading this because you’ve expressed at least a cursory interest in the topic (let’s call it, ecommerce revolution), very very few have steered their boat into the treacherous lanes of SHIPPING beer, wine, and/or spirits. After all, the water can be murky and rough. 

The thing is, though, it wasn’t actually all that long ago when only a small percentage of liquor store owners were brave enough to even sell their products online, period. Even locally. There were so many questions and concerns about the practicality and legality that it precluded countless stores from steering in that direction. Fast forward to present-day, and it seems like every store has an app, website, or both, where customers can shop from the comfort of their homes, and in most cases, have their orders delivered right to their doorstep. 

And yet, here we are. It’s very deja vu. The next big thing is Shipping (DTC or otherwise), and it’s coming whether we like it or not. Fun fact: we like it! At the very least, Intrastate Shipping, or shipping within-state, is taking off in a big way. Imagine reaching customers hundreds of miles away? 

That’s exactly what stores like Lueken’s Liquor of the Tampa Bay area, Gallo’s Wine Center of New Jersey, and Happy Wine Miami are thinking. 

Lueken's has been a staple of many Floridians' lives for 35 years and is one of Bottlecapps’ longest tenured clients. Always on the forefront of trying new things, Lueken’s is now taking the logical next step of adding Shipping as an offering to their customers. 

Gallo’s Wine Cellar, another store that has long been a part of the Bottlecapps’ family, has, too, recently made the decision to spread the love all over their respective state of New Jersey. Owner Jahred Gallo is one of the most respected people in his field, and people travel a long way to shop at his store. It makes sense, then, that Mr. Gallo would step up his game and add Shipping so his loyal customers don’t have to travel as far!

Band-Aid, Kleenex, Uber, etc. - some brands are synonymous with a category, while all others have to work at it a bit harder.
